Process Improvement and Lean Quality
There must be a close relationship between a Lean effort and Quality in
the way the total business is Managed and Controlled. This workshop is the
fourth in the six-part series on Lean Thinking. The teachings of some of
the most famous Gurus will be illustrated and exemplified to assure the
attendees that Lean Thinking embraces all of the concepts of Total Quality
Management. Juran, Deming and Crosby all have their unique ways of placing
high demands on all Business Functions.
This segment of the program will provide an in-depth look at some of the
proven problem solving processes to enable students with some of the tools
for implementation.

modern quality control and the different approaches to optimizing
Quality
A review of Total Quality Management principles, including the
relationship between Lean and (JIT) Just in Time
A view of the economics of both internal and external quality and the
management of long-term quality and reliability
A hands-on tutorial of the tools that are used to make processes free of
defects in your organization
An understanding of how teams can solve problems when using a well
structured problem solving process

The seven basic quality Tools – these
tools will enable you to quickly gather data and use it in a common
sense way to solve problems
Metrics – we will address topics such as statistic process control and
the basics of six sigma
Cost of Quality – exercises that will illustrate how the cost of quality
calculation points to the high priority issues in the organization
The appropriate Team Structure – that includes workers, facilitators and
support people
Poka-Yoke – discover a method of defect prevention that relies heavily
on a good design of the process or product to prevent the opportunity to
introduce error
The Compatibility of JIT/TQM – the goal for JIT, one piece flow has uses
as both a prerequisite and a by-product.
